AWS Lone Star
Croatian Wines
April 18, 2015
The Lone Star Chapter April tasting was held on April 18th at Dave and Diane's home. The theme was “Wines of Croatia”, perhaps our most adventurous tasting since our young chapter’s founding. The Szydlik’s prepared traditional Croatian entrees of leg of lamb, grilled chicken, and skradin risotto. All wines were, as the theme suggests, from the country of Croatia. It was interesting to learn that Croatian wine dates back to the country’s settling by the ancient Greeks. Since the majority of Croatia wines are white, our tasting leaned a bit more heavily towards the whites that our typical tasting and even we red lovers were not disappointed. This ended up being one of our more highly rated tastings. Unfortunately, Croatian wines are hard to come by in the States. All of the wines in our tasting were sourced directly from a distributer out of San Francisco, CA.
